This is a horribly grainy photo, but I’m pretty proud of it. It was taken with the very first digital camera we had, at the first home my wife and I purchased in Menifee, CA. I walked into the backyard one evening and saw something I’ve never seen before. I immediately grabbed the new camera from the house and shot this. It’s the trail left by a rocket that was launched, I believe, from Vandenberg Air Force Base, just north along the coast.
This was taken at Little Sahara sand dunes in Utah, in the mid 80s. That’s me in the foreground on the Yamaha YT 125, and my father to my right on his Honda ATC 250R. The photo was taken by my mother with her Canon AT-1, I believe. I always loved riding in the sand dunes. The terrain is challenging and wide open all at once.
